The Dundee Open DofE Group operates expeditions at all levels of the Award from both The Shore and Ancrum Outdoor Centre. If you have specific questions regarding your venture, please speak to the leader in charge who will be happy to help you out.

Expedition Conditions:

 

All DofE Expeditions must meet the requirements set down by the Award - there are no exceptions to this!

It does mean that although the expeditions might have some differences in location and format - they all require the same amount of effort and commitment to complete.

 

Level Duration Minimum hours of planned activity per day
Bronze 2 Days and 1 Night

At least 6 hours during the daytime

(at least half of which must be spent journeying)
Silver 3 Days and 2 Nights

At least 7 hours during the daytime

(at least half of which must be spent journeying)
Gold 4 Days and 3 Nights

At least 8 hours during the daytime

(at least half of which must be spent journeying)

 

The full list of 20 Expedition conditions can be found on the Award website but here's some of the highlights:

 

Your expedition must be by your own physical effort and be completely self sufficient

Your Expedition must have an aim, study or survey topic

You need to complete sufficient training plus at least one training venture for each level

Your expedition team must be of between four and seven people

Your overnight accomodation is by camping

You must create and deliver a report or presentation after your expedition to complete it.
