But here are some of our regular courses......

EXPEDITIONS - BRONZE

Classroom training commences in January and runs one evening per week for 13 weeks. The ventures themselves are scheduled according to the groups availability. To enrol - contact Fiona ideally by December. If there is sufficient demand further courses may commence in July.

EXPLORATIONS - SILVER

Classroom training commences in March. Places are first offered to the previous years Bronze then opened out to anyone. Only one silver trip is operated each year and demand for spaces is usually high - to enrol you should contact Steve or Fiona no later than the end of the year. Training ventures will be undertaken prior to the school exams, with an assessment in June.

EXPLORATIONS - GOLD

We only operate one Gold trip each year, in late July, with a training venture in either April. The planning for the trip  takes a very long time and competition for a place is usually high. To enrol you should contact Steve or Fiona by December at the very latest. Priority is given to participants from the Dundee area then any spare space is opened out to any participant of the Award, regardless of their location. In previous years we have hosted participants from as far away as the south of England and Northern Ireland.

Applications for spaces on the 2009 venture are now being taken.

SKILL COURSE - MEDIA GROUP

Want to plan, film and star in your own production? The media skills group offers you the chance to do just that. The main courses start in November each year and are based at the Ancrum Outdoor Centre with trips out to film on location. Previous groups have filmed music videos and murder mystery dramas though your project may be something different - if you have an idea then let us know. 

Note: Places are available by application only - to apply for a place you need to give us your name, contact details and tell us what kind of production you would like to be involved in - we will then try to match you to a course of people with similar ideas.

SERVICE COURSE - AWARD SCHEME LEADERSHIP (EXPEDITIONS) 

(Gold Award Only)

By the time you've reached Gold you'll be well aware of what skills are needed to undertake expeditions - so why not pass on what you've learnt by helping teach a Bronze group? You'll work alongside one of our volunteers to plan the entire Bronze expedition project, help teach in the classroom then accompany the group on the trips. Dont worry if you think you're knowledge is a bit shaky, you'll only be asked to help teach what you think you're capable of.

SKILL COURSE - HEALTH & STYLE

This course is operated when sufficient people register an interest. The course takes a look at your lifestyle. For health it will cover practical sessions on subjects like healthy eating, exercise etc. Whilst style covers subjects like Fashion, Hair and make-up sessions.

SKILL COURSE - ARTS & CRAFTS

Led by Carol. The content of the course will build upon your existing artwork skills in a variety of projects.
